A man identified as a drug suspect was shot dead after allegedly firing at police operatives during a buy-bust operation in Mina town, Iloilo. The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) executed the operation in Barangay Badiangan.

Details of the Incident

The suspect, referred to as alias “Alnie,” reportedly became aware he was transacting with policemen and fled towards a rice field. He allegedly fired at the poseur buyer, prompting the operatives to return fire, resulting in his immediate death.

Police recovered 700 grams of suspected shabu valued at P4.5 million from the suspect. Additionally, they found a .45 caliber pistol and a motorcycle in his possession.

Authorities identified Alias “Alnie” as a resident of Barangay Janipaan Central, Cabatuan town in Iloilo. Alias “Joery,” his cousin’s husband, accompanied him and drove the vehicle from which authorities recovered the illegal drugs.

“Joery” claimed he was unaware of “Alnie’s” activities despite being present at the meet-up. The Mina Municipal Police Station is currently detaining him and charging him with violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Background and Surveillance

Police revealed that “Alnie” had previous cases for murder and theft and was under surveillance for a month before the operation.

Furthermore, authorities continue to investigate the incident, focusing on the involvement of “Joery” and the broader network of the suspect’s illegal activities.
