TALISAY CITY, Cebu — A fire that erupted on Wednesday afternoon, April 24, 2024, in Sitio Tugas, Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City, destroyed 16 homes, leaving at least 16 families displaced and causing damage estimated at P1.2 million. Here are some details according to the report of SunStar Cebu.

Rapid Spread of Fire

According to Fire Officer 1 Jerome Dulauta of the Talisay City Fire Station, the fire began in the house of Tita Jimenez and quickly spread to nearby homes. The blaze broke out at 5:47 p.m. and was declared out an hour later, at around 6:47 p.m.

In total, 16 houses were completely destroyed, and eight others suffered partial damage. This left 74 individuals homeless, as they lost their homes and belongings in the blaze. The affected families are now seeking temporary shelter and assistance from local authorities and relief organizations.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, which has yet to be established. Authorities are conducting interviews with witnesses and examining the site for clues to understand what ignited the fire.

Response and Efforts

Emergency response teams, including fire and rescue services, quickly responded to the scene to contain the fire and prevent further damage.
