Due to overwhelming public demand, the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is elated to announce the extension of its 10 movie entries’ theatrical run. The MMFF, which was initially set to conclude its 2023 film showcase today, has responded to numerous requests from fans and cinephiles across social media platforms and phone calls, leading to this exciting extension.

Acting Chairman of MMDA and Overall Concurrent Chairman of MMFF, Atty. Don Artes, expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported and watched the films. He emphasized the festival’s appreciation for the audience’s continued patronage and noted that moviegoers now have additional days to enjoy all the MMFF entries. Furthermore, MMFF complimentary passes will be honored until January 14.

In a significant milestone, Atty. Artes announced that the 49th MMFF has grossed one billion pesos to date, effectively doubling the earnings from the previous year’s festival. This achievement solidifies MMFF 2023 as a certified box office hit and sets a positive precedent as preparations for the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) are underway.

The 10 films in the MMFF 2023 lineup, set to be screened at the inaugural MIFF in Los Angeles, California from January 29 to February 2, 2024, include diverse and compelling stories ranging from family dramas to historical epics. The festival, presented in partnership with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and organized by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, aims to promote and preserve Philippine cinema. The MMFF not only provides entertainment but also supports various beneficiaries in the film industry, ensuring a thriving and dynamic cinematic landscape in the Philippines.
