In a significant stride towards peace and integration, 294 members from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) were formally sworn in as the new organic members of the Philippine National Police (PNP). The ceremony took place at the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) in Camp Pendatun, Parang, Maguindanao del Norte on December 28, 2023.

The 294 individuals make up the second batch from a special recruitment program aimed at integrating 400 selected members from MILF and MNLF into the PNP for the year 2023. This batch includes 255 men and 39 women, all committing to serve as law enforcement officers.

The ceremony was attended by DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos, who warmly welcomed the new recruits. In his address, he emphasized that the uniform they don now is not just a symbol of authority but represents a commitment to uphold justice, serve with dignity, and maintain integrity. The event marks a historic collaboration and a step forward in the peace process, symbolizing hope and unity between the government and the Moro communities. This integration is part of broader efforts to provide sustainable livelihoods and integrate former combatants into society, thereby fostering lasting peace and development in the region.
