Thirteen individuals found themselves in a precarious situation as the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) swiftly came to their aid following a maritime incident involving the vessel M/V Star Sabang. The incident occurred on January 15 in the waters off Bayangan Island, Zamboanga del Norte.

According to the report by UNTV News Rescue, the vessel, M/V Star Sabang, was on a journey carrying approximately 170 tons of cement from Cebu to Zamboanga when it encountered adverse weather conditions that led to its accidental tilting, as reported by the PCG.

Upon receiving a distress call from Captain Zamcebar Cutaran, the PCG promptly mobilized its personnel from Sub-Station Salug to respond to the situation. The quick response team from CGSS Salug coordinated with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) in Labason, Zamboanga Del Norte, to initiate a rescue operation.

Efforts by the PCG culminated in the successful rescue of all 13 individuals from M/V Star Sabang. The rescued individuals were safely transported to Bayangan Island, where they received the necessary assistance and support.

This incident highlights the dedication and efficiency of the PCG in responding to maritime emergencies. Ensuring the safety and well-being of those in distress at sea.
