In Barangay Sta. Anastacia, Sto. Tomas City, Batangas, an abandoned newborn baby was discovered at a vacant lot by a concerned citizen. They promptly brought the baby to the barangay hall for assistance.

Investigation Details and Surroundings

According to GMA Regional TV News, upon investigation, authorities found that the privately owned abandoned lot where the baby was discovered is fenced and guarded by dogs. During subsequent visits, investigators found items associated with caring for an infant near the spot where the baby was discovered.

In addition, the newborn is now under the care of health workers in Sto. Tomas City, where efforts are underway to identify the mother and determine who abandoned the baby. Moreover, police are considering the possibility that the woman who brought the baby to the barangay hall might be the mother. This conclusion is based on observations from local residents.

Community Assistance and Support

Authorities have appealed to the public for cooperation and reminded them of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) readiness to assist in such cases. Additionally, plans are in place to transfer the baby to a shelter for proper care and attention.
