The incident, which occurred at XRC Building, East Kamias, Barangay Sta. Cruz, underscores the challenges faced by security personnel in maintaining safety and order.

According to Antipolo City Police, the altercation unfolded around 4:50 AM when the intruder forcibly entered the canteen premises. Alerted by the intrusion, the guard immediately confronted the suspect and ordered him to leave. Instead of complying, the man purportedly resisted and attempted to assault the guard, prompting Joey to discharge his .9mm service firearm.

The intruder sustained a gunshot wound to the jaw and was swiftly transported by Sta. Cruz Rescue members to Antipolo District Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite efforts to save him, medical professionals declared the suspect deceased upon arrival.

The Legal Proceedings

Following the incident, authorities took the guard into custody for further investigation. The Antipolo Component City Police Station’s Police Community Precinct 2 (PCP-2) is handling the case to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and ascertain the identity of the deceased suspect.
