10 Chinese Nationals Arrested in Parañaque Kidnapping Case

Kidnapping

Ten Chinese nationals were arrested in Parañaque City on Thursday following a police raid on a house in Multinational Village, Barangay Moonwalk. The operation, conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) National Capital Region field unit, began at around 4:50 a.m. and resulted in the rescue of seven Filipinos.

Here are the kidnapping details according to the report of The Philippine Star.

Victim’s Call for Help

Col. Jean Fajardo, chief information officer of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said the operation began after a house helper, one of the victims, provided information. The helper claimed that they were held against their will by the Chinese suspects for three days. Acting on this information, CIDG operatives, along with security guards from the village, conducted the raid and apprehended the suspects.

Fajardo indicated that the victims were coerced into participating in illegal activities such as love scams and cryptocurrency fraud. The suspects, seven men and three women, are accused of running their operations from the raided house. They allegedly forced the victims to participate in fraudulent practices.

Seized Items and Charges Filed

During the raid, authorities seized two firearms with assorted bullets, 17 cell phones, five desktop computers, three laptop computers, and various passports and identification cards. The suspects are charged with several criminal offenses, including kidnapping, serious illegal detention, and qualified trafficking in persons. They also face charges of illegal gambling and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. They are also accused of violating Republic Act 8484, the Access Devices Regulation Act.

The arrested suspects and rescued victims were taken to Camp Crame for documentation and further investigation. Authorities are continuing their efforts to gather evidence and pursue any additional suspects involved in the case.
