Man Stabbed to Death by Partner’s Ex in Pangasinan

Man Stabbed

A 35-year-old man was fatally stabbed while sleeping with his girlfriend in Barangay Minien East, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan. The perpetrator was the woman’s former live-in partner, who stormed into the victim’s house and attacked him in his sleep, according to police reports.

Here are some details according to the report of GMA Regional TV News.

Victim Identified, Suspect Confesses

Jeffrey Jose sustained four stab wounds to the chest, and doctors declared him dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. His girlfriend, who tried to intervene, also sustained stab wounds but survived the attack.

The suspect, identified as Richard Quicho, 33, surrendered to the police shortly after the incident. He admitted to the crime, citing jealousy and his inability to accept that his ex-partner was in a relationship with someone else. The suspect has a child with the woman he attacked, which he indicated was a source of resentment.\

Jose’s family expressed grief and disbelief over the incident. His mother, Berlinda Jose, said she was devastated by the violent death of her son. “Sobrang awa ko syempre, mahal na mahal ko mga anak ko, kaya hindi ko matanggap na ganyan ang ginawa,” she said.

Analissa Solis, the victim’s sister, echoed the same sentiment, saying she would have found it easier to accept her brother’s death had it been due to an accident, rather than a brutal attack. “Mas matanggap ko pa na sa disgrasya siya namatay kesa sa ganyan na namatay na walang laban,” she said.

Investigation Ongoing

Police said that the suspect entered the victim’s house with the intention of committing violence. PSSGT Jaypee Vinluan, an investigator from the Santa Barbara Police Station, stated that Quicho’s actions were driven by jealousy. Vinluan added that Quicho struggled to accept that his former partner had moved on. “Sabi niya [ng suspek] dahil sa selos [yung pagpatay niya], dahil dati niyang ka-live-in si madam [kasamang babae ng biktima]. Hindi niya matanggap lalo’t may anak silang isa,” Vinluan added.

The suspect is currently in police custody, facing charges related to the fatal stabbing and assault on the woman. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
