Man Hacks Mother to Death; 3 Others Injured in Talisay, Batangas

Man Hacks Mother

In a harrowing incident that shook the quiet town of Talisay, a 39-year-old man allegedly hacks his 74-year-old mother to death inside their home during the late hours of the night. The grisly attack occurred while the victim was reportedly resting on the sofa.

According to GMA Regional TV News, following this brutal act, the assailant proceeded to his cousin’s residence next door, where he brandished his weapon, injuring his cousin and two of the latter’s minor children. Medical personnel swiftly rushed all three victims to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, the elderly woman succumbed to her injuries, inflicted across various parts of her body.

Motive Remains Unknown

As authorities grapple to comprehend the motives behind this appalling crime, Police Major Billy John Mactal, Officer-in-Charge of Talisay Police Station, stated, “At this point, there is no clear motive established for the suspect’s actions. Our investigation is ongoing to discern what drove him to commit such a heinous act… The family has not indicated any involvement of the suspect in substance abuse or intoxication.”

Amidst the chaos, vigilant neighbors intervened upon hearing distress calls, prompting the suspect to flee the scene. However, law enforcement agencies managed to apprehend him hours later in Barangay Quiling. Investigators believe that the assailant used the recovered old machete in the attack.

Facing Justice

The suspect now finds himself in the custody of Talisay Police Station, facing grave charges of parricide and multiple counts of attempted murder.

In the wake of this tragedy, the relatives of the victims have chosen not to offer any comments.

“Given this incident, we continue to urge our citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the authorities for swift intervention and support,” emphasized Mactal.
