Stolen Motorcycle Sold Online; 2 Arrested

Stolen Motorcycle

Two individuals have been detained for their alleged involvement in the theft of a motorcycle within Quezon City. Here are some details according to the report of ABS-CBN News.

Police Response

As reported by Police Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Castillo, commander of QCPD Station 6, the apprehended suspects hail from Barangay North Fairview. However, their criminal escapade unfolded in a neighboring barangay, Commonwealth.

The motorcycle’s rightful owner parked the vehicle outside his residence along a thoroughfare in Barangay Commonwealth. The following morning, at approximately 10 a.m., the owner discovered the motorcycle missing as he prepared for work. Promptly, the incident was reported to the barangay authorities and subsequently to the local police station.

Subsequently, the owner’s sibling stumbled upon the motorcycle being advertised for sale online. The sibling engaged with the seller and was offered the vehicle for ₱40,000. Notably, distinct features known only to the owner validated the identity of the stolen motorcycle.

Sting Operation

In a strategic maneuver, the victim’s sibling arranged to meet with the sellers. During the transaction, a test drive was permitted. Upon inspection, the compartment revealed crucial evidence—the Official Receipt and Certificate of Registration (ORCR) bearing the victim’s name.

Despite being confronted with the allegations, one of the suspects opted to remain silent. Nevertheless, both individuals have been formally charged with violating the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.

The swift response by law enforcement personnel has thwarted the illicit activities of stolen motorcycle thieves, ensuring accountability and justice for the victim.
